    WW2 Commissioning CA-136 USS Chicago Philadelphia Navy Yard Lot Program Photos.
    Wonderful lot of items connected to the commissioning of the WW2 era US Navy ship the USS Chicago.
    USS Chicago (CA-136/CG-11) was a Baltimore-class heavy cruiser laid down on 28 July 1943 at the Philadelphia Navy Yard. She was launched on 20 August 1944, and was sponsored by Mrs. Edward J. Kelly, wife of the Mayor of Chicago, Illinois, and commissioned at the Philadelphia Navy Yard on 10 January 1945, Captain Richard R. Hartung, USN, in command.
    Lot consists of:

    “Plank Owners Certificate”; issued to original crew member Philip K. Grime
    Vol. 1, No. 1 USS Chicago ship newspaper “The Big Shot”
    Also includes a Pyro Plastic Company model of the USS Chicago. 1950’s.
    Overall the items are in very good condition. Minor wear, creases, fold lines, dust, soiling that should be expected given the age. See photo for greater details.
