    Description

You are bidding on a 16mm optical sound film, entitled "Championship Skiing-TV".  This was produced by the Union Pacific Railroad Motion Picture Bureau.  I don't have a projector that will play the film, but I scanned some shots from the first quarter of the film so you can get an idea of what it consists of.  I know the competition takes place at Sun Valley, ID, (possibly the Harriman Cup?).  I noticed that one of the male skiers had "Mad Dog" on his race bib and some online research led to Dick Buek.  Buek died in November of 1957 so obviously the film dates to before then.  The format is pretty similar to current day where they show competitors at the start and at different points on the course. The film can and reel shows signs of exposure to water, but the images I scanned don't seem worse for wear.  I don't know how long the film is, but the reel measures 9.25 inches in diameter.
