Vintage American Modernist Winifred Mason Chenet HUGE Pewter Copper Cufflinks. Copper Cufflink with brass wire wrapped in an abstract pattern. Winifred Mason Chenet was an American born Modernist Designer and one of the leading pioneers of her time. Winifred is the most well-known and collected African American Female Modernist Designer. She was also responsible for mentoring and training Art Smith, the most well known African American Male Designer of the Modernist Movement.
These cufflinks are a great example of Winifred's modernist design aesthetic. All of her work was handmade and one-of-a-kind. Though some times designs were of the same "family," she never repeated the exact same design. Her work has become very sought after in recent years as she is finally gaining the notoriety and credit she deserves. Cufflinks are signed "Chenet," which is her later signature after her marriage. Pieces signed "Mason" are earlier and
