    Description

This lot consists of two Spanish language cards showing scenes of
the 1930 film LILIOM, starring Estelle Taylor and Charles Farrell.
These cards were printed in Spain as part of the series ESTAMPAS
DEL CINEMA. There is extensive text in Spanish on the reverse sides.
They are about 6" by 8", and are in good condition, with some general
    wear (see scans).
LILIOM was originally a 1909 stage play by the Hungarian writer
Ferenc Molnar. It has been made into a movie many times, but
is now best known for being the basis of CAROUSEL, the famous
    musical by Rodgers & Hammerstein.
The 1930 film version was directed by Frank Borzage, and
costarred Rose Hobart, H. B. Warner, and
    Lee Tracy
    .
The film had long been believed to be lost, but it was
recently rediscovered, and is now available on DVD.
Estelle Taylor (1894-1958) was a popular silent movie actress. Her
best known films include THE TEN COMMANDMENTS (1923),
DON JUAN (1926), WHERE EAST IS EAST (1929, costarring
Lon Chaney), and CALL HER SAVAGE (1932).
Charles Farrell (1901-1990) became a star with the 1927 film
SEVENTH HEAVEN, the first of many films he made that
costarred Janet Gaynor. He continued making movies for
the next decades, and also had success on radio and in
    television.
