Amazing Grouping Of WW2 -Vietnam US Navy Cook (Pearl Harbor Survivor!). I picked up this amazing collection at a local SC auction near Ft Jackson. The binder appears to be a book that the Navy Cook (L.E. Mangold) carried with him throughout his career and it is full of recipes, food guides, sanitation and supply info, and even his retirement plans! There is a list of each Ship and duty station he was at while carrying this book on the inside cover. There is so much information in this binder that I couldn't take photos of it all! The photo shows the Sailor with Command staff after receiving an award for most improved mess. I can only imagine the pride this Sailor had in his duties to study and carry this book everywhere he was stationed. He must have felt a tremendous amount of duty to keep the Sailors on the ship in top fighting shape.  His obituary list him as a Pearl Harbor Survivor and having served in Vietnam.
