Description
1969 Mercury Cougar XR7 428 Cobra Jet Ram Air Convertible. Same owner for 21 years and driven under 5000 miles in that time. Numbers matching heads/valve covers/distributor/carburetor/differential/PS pump and ram/water pump/radiator. May '69 replacement block and intake.Working a/c and tilt away. One of 96 built with only 47 R code cars still accounted for. Condition: 1 minus/2 plus.
Well known in the Cougar community. Has both dark red mats for driving and white mats for shows.
Repro 15' aluminum wheels and new tires. Space saver spare tire and canister. Every document and receipt for 2 decades. Runs and drives beautifully and will spin the wheels at 50 MPH with the 4 barrel kicked in-on 93 Octane unleaded. LED light conversion in tail lamps and dash. Sequentials rotate perfectly. White Power top in perfect condition with folding rear glass and new top boot. Dash has no warps or cracks. Steering wheel has been restored with functioning rim-blow horn.
A/C converted to 134a with new dryer, core and compressor, and the entire heater box was rebuilt within last 5 years.This car runs cool in 95 degree Texas heat with the a/c on- no overheating.
I have owned the unrestored 428 GTE 4-speed car, a 70 428SCJ Eliminator that set a world record in 2013 at BJ, and a 40K mile 69 428 SCJ pure stock drag car. They all left my possession far better than when I found them. This car will delight its new owner.
